About Project Clownfish

The band Clownfish delves into the depths of the human soul with their new album "Journey into the Deep." Led by singer and bassist Hannah Sophie and lead guitarist Marva Chun, two trans women who process their personal journey from man to woman in their music, Clownfish invites listeners to join them on a spiritual voyage of discovery. 


The name Clownfish, was chosen because clownfish can transform from male to female over the course of their lives - a fitting symbol for Marva and Hannah Sophie's transition. In the ten tracks of "Journey into the Deep," Clownfish skillfully weave progressive rock elements with atmospheric synthesizers, driving beats, and Marva Chun's virtuoso guitar playing.


Hannah Sophie’s powerful vocals convey lyrical depth dealing with self-discovery, self-acceptance, and the courage to follow one's own path. Songs like the opener "Diving Inwards" and the ballad "Finding Myself" touch with their emotional openness. With the mystical-sounding "Into the Deep" as the finale, Clownfish lead the listener into meditative soundscapes full of hope and confidence. "Journey into the Deep" is a moving album about identity, transcendence, and the bravery to make one's dreams come true.
